It is wonderful, Soul Bloom, to see Ms. Butler honored. Bravo! Especially with us facing the new sets of activity from Mother Nature---Homo sapiens now being engaged in the 6th Extinction. We have let the uber-rich break the simple stewardship that Mother Nature expects from Homo sapiens for getting to live on this gorgeous little blue planet and the Ubers have adorned everything with boastful bravado and massive stupidity which still frothing at the bit. The wonderful little water bears have kept a low profile and do not play the Bottom-Line or the Perpetual Warfare Game and they have survived all 5 extinctions.
Thank you for introducing me to Octavia Butler's works. I admit that I did not know of her, but I will certainly explore her work! I just ordered The Parable of the Sower...is that a good place to start?

When I read Fledgling (my first of her books!) and went to get book 2 only to find out that was her last book.......devastated.
Have since gone backwards and done all her books. Love them.
