I really enjoyed this episode. I started it in Reynosa, Mexico and listened through my international commute into the spritual desert of Texas. I appreciate that Oscar said Texas is more purple than red - I felt that in my soul and said DAMN SKIPPY, BRO.
Hi, There! The enduring message from The Office for me is that a group of coworkers is a FAMILY. And our relationships with our coworkers are more intimate than our relationships with our “real” family, because we spend more waking time with coworkers than with our own families, and because we can’t blame many of our issues in the office on anyone but ourselves. We didn’t inherit that irritating character or personality trait from anyone at work, after all, so we’re forced to deal constructively with people who are also as befuddled as we are while working through their own issues. As a sidebar, The Office portrays that intimacy better than any other show about work life that I have ever seen. When I watch it, I can almost smell somebody else’s lunch in the microwave.
